How often should you sharpen your lawnmower blades

James with tuxedo yard care here. Today I want to talk with you about how often you should sharpen your mower blades at your house. Typically for the residential lawn, let’s say it’s a quarter acre and it takes you 20 to 30 minutes a week, I would recommend you sharpen your blades two to three times per season. If you do that, you’re gonna have some nice sharp blades through the season and get a nice cut. So general rule of thumb is every eight hours of operation so if your lawns bigger than that just factor in when you get to that eight hours of use, and that’s when you should sharpen your blade. Also, another factor would be how dusty is your yard, or how green is your grass. Basically, if you’re if you’re running into sticks and dust and things like that, you’re going to want to sharpen more frequently. But if you’re cutting nice green grass, eight hours is probably good for you. So at tuxedo yard care, we sharpen our blades every single day because they get quite a bit of use.
